This research also reveals the reasons for its findings. They say that since human life expectancy has increased by leaps and bounds since the last century, thanks to the improvement in medical science, there has been a spurt in the healthcare requirements of people. One particular role that has gotten a lot of demand, thanks to the increasing demand for better healthcare services and facilities, is that of a nursing assistant. The field of nursing is gaining a lot of prominence with the developments of the last decade. The basic job of a nurse is to take care of his or her patients. A certified nursing assistant or CNA as it is abbreviated, is a very important member of the healthcare industry. They are on the front line of caring for their sick patients. When we say that a CNA works under a nurse, we mean that they performs their duties under the guidance of a nurse. They perform functions that are lower to that of a nurse. Their basic duties include caring for ill patients, making them comfortable in the hospital, moving of patients, etc. This role requires a lot of physical and mental toughness. Toughness is mandatory as dealing with patients is not easy. Any normal person can become paranoid with the different types and kinds of patients that come in a hospital. But to perform this critical role, one requires a nursing certification.

This certification can obtained by appearing for CNA certification exams. Studying for CNA certification involves attending a three-month course which teaches both the practical and the theoretical aspects of the job of a CNA. During post training, one needs to clear the licensing exam. Clearing this exam will determine your suitability for applying for a job as a nursing assistant. There are two components to a CNA exam: the clinical exam and the theoretical exam. The former covers the practical questions and the latter, the theoretical questions. Practical questions are based on the exercises covered during the training, whereas the theoretical training includes answering a theoretical paper.

In order to obtain a CNA license, there are some basic requirements to be fulfilled. The applicant should be above 18 years old, passing the written competency course which includes 40 hrs of clinical training under a trained nurse and have a high school education, English proficiency which is necessary as this is a patient interfacing job. The activities to be done when obtaining the license are filling up the application form and notarizing it and sending it to the state licensing office. Submitting certificates showing practical training in the subject and submitting of medical and background check certificates to the department of public safety.

CNA Training for a Certified Nursing Assistant

Healthcare is becoming the profession to be in, in the years to come. In keeping with this prediction, a lot of students who are currently in high school or middle school are aspiring to be healthcare professionals by taking up the post of a certified nursing assistant. These certification exams are administered by the state, and the training programs for the same are provided by many agencies, private, government and free courses conducted by some institutions, who wish to pursue their corporate social responsibility. Unlike traditional healthcare professionals, a certified nursing assistant does not require exhaustive training, albeit he or she is expected to obtain practical experience after their certification exams.

Notwithstanding the fact that they do not require elaborate training, they need to have an aptitude for the profession. The role of a nursing assistant is a very challenging one in that it requires the individual to be both physically and mentally strong. This skill is cultivated in the students through the training programs and practical training that they have to undergo after the certification exams. Most nursing assistants take up a formal education including high school before they pursue the course to become a certified nursing assistant. Then they take up the CNA training and internship and become a seasoned professional in the field.

They take formal education in community colleges and then opt for a course in nursing. This is because; the role of nurses in the healthcare team is a prominent one what with their direct patient interface and their direct knowledge about the patient condition. Therefore, they are known as the eyes and ears of the healthcare industry who tends to patients.
