Certified Nurse Assistant Training
A certified nurse assistant should have some attributes in order to be a successful and well liked professional. First of all, a nursing assistant is the front liner in caring for ill patients. He or she attends to all the needs of her patients, monitoring the health of the patient and informing the doctor concerned about any changes that she may have observed in their health. A certified nursing assistant performs all the above duties and many more.
But in order to do all these activities to the satisfaction of their patients, a nurse assistant needs special training. This training is provided by the CNA course. Typical CNA training is of three months that includes both practical and theoretical components. In the practical or clinical training one is taught to apply the theory learnt from the books during the classroom sessions in the theoretical training. This involves demonstrating five practical training skills that are learnt during the training. On the other hand, the theoretical exam comprises answering a test paper containing a number of questions. These questions will be based on the theory that is learnt in the CNA course.
Apart from the above criteria, there are some additional requirements that are to be fulfilled by a certified nursing assistant. Applicants should show equal courtesy and respect to all their patients. They should consider and try to fulfill all needs including social, physical and emotional. And provide nursing assistance to all patients irrespective of their creed. Recognize and respect the needs of elderly and disabled.
Along with all the above a certified nursing assistant should also practice good healthy habits in order to keep themselves in good health. These habits include taking nutritious meals, taking sufficient rest and sleep, taking time out for rest and relaxation, promptly reporting any adverse patient condition to the nurse on duty. She should also be taking periodic health check ups in order to maintain themselves in good health.
